Bread of Choice, 3 slices
Sliced American Cheese
Butter, about 4 tablespoons
Metal Pot or Skillet
Heat Source, such as a stove top or a campfire
Optional: Tongs or Spatula
Start by buttering the outsides of two slices of your favorite kind of bread. Heat a skillet or pan over medium heat. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet. Place however many pieces of the american cheese as you would like on the slice of bread. Cover the cheese with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
Once the grilled cheese is at the level of crisp you desire, carefully flip over the sandwich with the tongs.
As the other side is cooking, place more slices of cheese on top of the sandwich. Place the third slice of bread, butter side up, on top of the sandwich in the pan. Once the grilled cheese is at the level of crisp you desire, carefully flip over the sandwich with the tongs. Allow the sandwich to cook until it is crispy and golden brown. Remove from the skillet and let cool.
